ABOUT

As a child, Anastasia Baker was enchanted by the power of storytelling. Whether they were her grandmother’s tales of her idyllic childhood summers in Cape Cod, or her grandfather’s anecdotes about life growing up in cosmopolitan Constantinople of yesteryear, she found herself entranced by the images, colors, textures, scents and sounds of those distant worlds.

Anastasia’s love of the craft of storytelling continued to grow as she discovered the worlds of literature and the film.  It was at the age of 13, after she finished reading “Valley of the Dolls,” that she was emboldened with the notion that a woman can accomplish anything that she sets out to do in life, and can do it immersed in glamour and style.

Her next transformative moment was when she discovered the carnival-like world of Federico Fellini. Her POV pivoted after experiencing his acclaimed “Juliet of the Spirits.” In Fellini, she found permission to take chances and learned how to build on the special moments of one’s past to create a story that is relevant and inspirational today.

Obsessed with Italian style and culture, the young Anastasia left suburban New Jersey to study Art History at Italy’s acclaimed University of Urbino. There she discovered the intriguing works of Giotto, the Proto-Renaissance artist most known for breaking with the rigid Byzantine school of the past by introducing naturalist and realistic elements to his work. This theme of breaking with the past and allowing creativity to open up new worlds is one that guided her throughout her professional career.

After graduating from university with a degree in Art History and Filmmaking, Anastasia joined the hit television show “Smash” as a Set Decorator. Her creative eye was quickly-noticed and her work was featured in a “People” magazine spread about the Golden Globe-winning TV series.

With her creative reputation spreading beyond the world of television, Anastasia was asked to join the team at Raul Avila - NYC’s most illustrious name in event planning, known throughout the world of glamour, fashion and celebrity for producing the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala (Met Gala for short). While there, Anastasia honed her party-planning and floral-arranging skills, as Raul mentored and guided her as his assistant. Her creative skillset exploded as she helped plan and design events for Vogue, Anna Wintour, Dolce and Gabbana, Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga, Valentino, Tory Burch, Conde Nast, KCD, The New York City Ballet, Ian Schrager, Oscar de la Renta, and Hermes.

Continuing with her life’s story of breaking with the past and embodying the tenet that “through creativity anything is possible,” Anastasia is proud to announce her new venture - RSVP by Anastasia. Giving her customers a specialized experience that goes beyond their wildest dreams, Anastasia is quickly building a devoted base of corporate and institutional clients, including Emirate Airlines and the Cypriot Consulate of New York.
